Dr. Pattavina has created self contained and flexible resource room programs to maintain difficult students in the least restrictive settings in public schools.
Dr. Pattavina has authored a textbook for teachers, a social skills board game for elementary students, a video for teaching conflict management skills to secondary teachers and forms for monitoring student behavior.
A collection of worksheets and forms used for managing difficult students - and working collaboratively with parents, service providers and administrators.
The Alternative Educator’s Handbook, by Dr. Paul J. Pattavina, is a comprehensive, practical collection of strategies and researched practices to be implemented with students who present social, emotional and behavioral challenges in school. This handbook is intended to serve as a practical resource for teachers and other staff who work with difficult students – kids who tend to, either intentionally or unintentionally, ‘pluck your last nerve’. The handbook reviews student characteristics and intervention procedures, as well as specific forms and procedures created or adapted over time and experience.
A: An approach designed to build student mindfulness - including self awareness, self esteem, self regulation and self determination.
